Garima conducted a survey and it was observed that the ratio of male students to female students who receive elementary education is 7:3. Only 8% of such female students opt for Higher Education. If the total number of students in the country are 30000, calculate the no. of female students who opted for Higher education.

From a magic wooden box, two magic blocks are randomly taken out with numbers mentioned on it. Both the numbers are in the ratio 1:3 and the greater number is 27 more than twice the smaller number, find the greater number.
The ratio of prices of the sunglasses of Rayban and Titan Eye are in the ration 7: 2. If the price of Titan eye is increased by Rs. 1000, the new ratio becomes 2:1. Find the original price of Titan eye sunglass?
A box contains an amount of Rs. 200 in the form of Rs. 2 , Rs. 5 and Rs. 10 coins in the ration of 5: 4: 2. Find the number of Rs. 5 coins.
The pension of A, B and C senior citizens of PWD department is in the ratio 3:5:2 and the total of their pensions is Rs. 300000. If we want each of them to have equal pension, how much more should be added to the existing pension of C?
What is the price of 86 kgs of potato if 1 quintal costs Rs. 1000?
DO IT YOURSELF!!!
In a mixed fruit juice carton of I L, the pomegranate juice, the guava juice and the litchi juice are in equal quantities. How much more guava juice should there in the same carton, to make the ratio 1:2:1.
Solution with Explanation:
Let the male students and female students be 7x and 3x respectively
7x+3x = 30000
x = 30000/10 = 3000
Therefore no. of female students = 3x = 9000
No. of female students opting for higher education = (8/100)*9000
= 8* 90 = 720
Let the money given to Hema, Rekha, Jaya and Sushma be 2x, 3x, 7x and 5x
2x+ 3x+ 7x+5x = 20000
17x = 20000
x = 20000/ 17
= Rs. 1176.4
Money to Hema = 2x = 2* 1176.4 = 2352.8 = Rs. 2353 (approx.)
Money to Sushma = 5x = 5 * 1176.4 = Rs. 5882
Equal amount to Jaya and Sushma = (2353 + 5882)/ 2 =Rs. 4117.5
Money that should be given to Hema = 4117.5 – 2353
= Rs. 1764.5
Let the water and other contents be 7x and 3x respectively
7x + 3x = 500
x = 50 ml.
Quantity of water in Sambhar = 7*50 = 350 ml.
Since the speed is constant, therefore
40:3 :: x:18
40/3 = x/18
x = (40*18)/3
= 240 kms
Let the numbers be x and 3x respectively.
3x = 2x+ 27
X = 27
Greater number = 3x = 3* 27 = 81
Let the prices of the sunglasses of Rayban and Titan Eye be 7x and 2x respectively.
7x / (2x + 1000) = 2/1
7x = 4x + 2000
x = 2000/ 3 = Rs. 666.66 = Rs.667 (approx.)
Original Price of Sunglass of titan eye= Rs. 666.66
Let the number of Rs. 2 , Rs. 5 and Rs. 10 coins be 5x, 4x and 2x respectively.
2*(5x) + 5* (4x) + 10 (2x) = 200
10x + 20x+ 20x = 200
x = 200/ 50 = 4
No. of Rs. 5 coins = 4x = 4* 4 = 16 coins
Let the pension of A, B and C be 3x, 5x and 2x.
3x + 5x+2x = 300000
10x = 300000
x = 300000/10 = Rs. 30000
Existing pension of C = 2x = Rs. 60000
Equal Pension = 300000/3 = 100000
To be added = 100000- 60000
= Rs. 40000
1 quintal = 100 kgs
Since t is in proportion
100/1000 = 86/x
1/10 = 86/x
x = Rs. 860
