How to Prepare for AILET 2022 from Scratch?

3 minutes read

AILET 2022 is just around the corner now, only 3 months to go. Scared because you’ve spent the last few months thinking that you’ll start studying seriously from tomorrow? Trust me, we’ve all been there. You didn’t miss a lot!

3 months is more than enough for you to start preparing from scratch and still ace the exam. Especially now that the AILET pattern has changed. There will only be three sections in the paper, no Maths, no Legal Reasoning! Here’s a few tips on how to prepare for AILET, even if you’re starting from zero.

  • English Language:

This section will have 50 questions, for 50 marks. Questions can range from Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary, to Grammar-based questions. Improve and increase your reading speed. You will not get a lot of time in the actual exam.

There will be a total of 150 questions, to be solved in 90 minutes. That boils down to less than a minute for each question. Read books like ‘Word Power made Easy’ to improve your vocabulary. Practice grammatical questions, understand the concepts involved.

  • Current Affairs and General Knowledge:

This section will have 30 questions, for 30 marks. It can be a very scoring section, if you prepare smartly. Focus on the months coming up, and the past few ones. Start reading a good english newspaper, if you haven’t already.

Prepare a weekly list of topics, only the most important. This will help you in revision. Read compendiums for the months you have missed. Focus on Static GK too, as it is usually asked.

  • Logical Reasoning:

This section will have 70 questions, for 70 marks, making it the one with the highest percentage in this paper. Score well in this section, and you’ll definitely score better overall.

This section will also be the tie-breaker, in case of identical marks between candidates. Another reason to prepare for this section super hard! Start with the basics, and clear your concepts, if you’re not very confident about this.

Understand topics like inferences, conclusions, strengthening-weakening arguments, summarising, etc. Make sure to practice questions from syllogisms, blood relations, directions, clocks and calendars, puzzles, etc. This is a very scoring section, provided you solve it quickly, and correctly.

Start giving mocks, if you haven’t already. Don’t keep it for when you’ve completed all the topics. That is a mistake that many aspirants make.

In exams like AILET, your syllabus is never truly complete. So, start giving mocks, and don’t feel disheartened, even if you don’t get the scores you desired. Constant practice will help you improve.

Take these mocks in a quiet, timed, exam-like setting. You’ll be able to focus more easily. After every mock, don’t just move on to the next. Analyse it. Find out the topics where you couldn’t answer. Check if you’re making silly mistakes. Improve on them.

We hope that these tips help you structure your study plan effectively, and motivate you to study harder and smarter.
