• What is CLAT?

CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test. It is an all-India entrance examination for taking admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) degree program (LLB and LLM) in National Law Universities (NLUs).

  • Who Will Conduct CLAT 2021?

CLAT 2021 will be conducted by the Consortium of NLUs. Currently, twenty-one NLUs have joined the Consortium as founding members.

However, apart from these NLUs, many private/other law schools also accept CLAT scores for admission purposes and one can use their scores for admissions to these participating colleges.

  • What Are The Eligibility Criteria For CLAT 2021?
UG: Eligibility Criteria
  1. There will be no upper age limit for UG Programme in CLAT 2021.
  2. The candidate must have secured in 10+2 or an equivalent examination:
  3. Forty-five percent (45%) marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO / OCI categories
  4. Forty Percent (40%) marks or equivalent in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
PG: Eligibility Criteria 
  1. No upper age limit is prescribed for appearing in CLAT 2021.
  2. An LLB Degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum of Fifty percent (50%) of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories and Forty-Five percent (45%) of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
  • Are NRI Candidates Eligible For CLAT 2021?

Yes, the NRI candidates are eligible to appear in CLAT 2021. They may select their category as NRI for taking benefits of the NRI category.

  • What Is The Syllabus For CLAT 2021?

  • English Language [28-32 questions, or roughly 20% of the paper]
  • Current Affairs, including General Knowledge [35-39 questions, or roughly 25% of the paper]
  • Legal Reasoning [35-39 questions, or roughly 25% of the paper]
  • Logical Reasoning [28-32 questions, or roughly 20% of the paper]
  • Quantitative Techniques [13-17 questions, or roughly 10% of the paper]
Subjects for PG

The paper is based on the mandatory subjects of the undergraduate program that include: Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Law of Contract, Torts, Family Law, Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law, and Labor & Industrial Law.

  • What Is The Paper Format For CLAT 2021?

With changes in the paper pattern last year, CLAT is now a comprehension-based test. Questions in both CLAT UG and PG are asked from the comprehension passages.

  • Duration of CLAT 2021 Exam-02:00 Hours
  • Multiple-Choice Questions-150 questions of one mark each
  • Negative Marking-0.25 Mark for each wrong answer

  • When Will The Applications Open/Close For CLAT 2021?

The applications will be available only in online mode. The applications will open on 1st January 2021 and will close on 31st March 2021.

  • When Will Be CLAT 2021 Exam Held?

The Consortium has decided that the date of the examination will be on 13th June 2021.
