Directions for Q. No. 1 to 5​​ : Read the following information, and then answer the questions given below it.

The selection committee of a company laid down the allowing criteria of selection for the post of Manager-Accounts.

A. The candidate must be a Post-graduate in Commerce.

B. The candidate must have completed 21 years and should be not more than 35 years as on 31st July, 1996.

C. If the candidate does not satisfy the criteria A above but has completed his CA examination, he will be referred to Director Finance, who can allow the candidate to appear in the interview if otherwise eligible.

D. If the candidate fulfils all the criteria mentioned in A and B above, he/she will be called for group discussion.

E. The candidate must get 50% marks to qualify in the group discussion

F. If the candidate qualifies in the group discussion, he/she will be called for the interview.

G. The candidate must get 30% marks in the interview (out of 50) to get finally selected.

 

Based on the above criteria, decide which of the following courses of action should be taken in the case of candidates described in each of the following questions.

Mark your answer as:

(a) if the candidate can be selected

(b) if the candidate is to be referred to Director-Finance

(c) if the candidate can be called for group discussion

(d) if the candidate can be called for interview

1. Mr. Patil, a Post-graduate in Commerce obtained 70% in group discussion and secured 20% marks in interview. He was 35 years as on 31st July, 1996.

2. Mr. Desal is a Commerce-graduate, has passed his GA examination and was born on 18th April, 1974

3. Mr. Satyam Singh, a post-graduate in Commerce, born on 3rd April, 1962 obtained 60% marks in group discussion

4. Mr. Ghosh is M.Com, and his date of birth is 30th June, 1961

5. Mr. Mustak​​ who was born on 4th May, 1996 did M.Com. one year back and he was the top candidate, in the group discussion.

 

Directions (Q.6-10):​​ Study the following information​​ carefully and answer the questions given below:

Eight persons​​ Prasoon, Abhishek, Abhinash, Suresh,​​ Tribhuan, Umesh,​​ Vinay​​ and Sumit live in a building but not necessarily in the same order. There are eight floors in​​ that building and only one person lives on each floor. Each of them likes a different colour, viz Red, Brown, Green, Black, Blue, Yellow, Pink and Orange but not necessarily in the same order. The ground floor of the building is numbered one and the floor above it is numbered two and​​ so on. The topmost floor of the building is numbered eight.​​ The one who likes Blue lives above the floor on which the one who likes Yellow lives. Only two persons live between the floors on which​​ Prasoon​​ and the one who likes Orange live. The one who likes Orange lives immediately above the floor on which the one who likes Red lives. Only​​ three persons live between the floors on which Suresh and the one who likes Yellow live. The one who likes Pink lives​​ immediately above the floor on which Suresh lives. Suresh lives neither on the floor numbered three nor on the lower-​​ most floor.​​ Vinay​​ lives on an odd-numbered floor. The one who likes Black lives immediately below the floor on​​ which​​ Vinay​​ lives. Only three persons live between the floors on which Umesh and the one who likes Black live.

Only two persons live between the floors on which Umesh and the one who likes Brown live. There are as many persons between the floors on which Abhinash and the one who likes Black live as between​​ Tribhuan​​ and the one​​ who likes Black. Abhinash lives on an even-numbered floor above the one who likes Black. There are as many persons​​ between the one who likes Orange and Sumit as persons between Abhishek and the one who likes Yellow.

6. Four of the following five are alike in a certain way and so form a group. Which is the one that does not belong to that group?

Ans.1 –​​ a. Mr. Patil satisfies all the criteria of selection. Therefore, he can be selected.

Ans.2 –​​ b. Mr. Desal is not a Post graduate in Commerce but has passed CA examination. Therefore, his case can be referred to Director-Finance.

Ans.3 –​​ d. Mr. Satyam satisfies Criteria A, B, D and E. Hence, he can be called for interview.

Ans.4 –e. Mr. Ghosh fails to satisfy Criteria B. Hence, he can't be selected.

Ans.5 –​​ d.​​ Mr. Mustak​​ satisfies Criteria A, B, C and E. Hence, he can be called for interview.

Ans.6 – c. There is a gap of one floor in all other options between the given person and colour.

Ans.7 – b.​​ Sumit and abhishek live immediately above and below the floor, respectively, on which​​ Tribhuan​​ lives.

Ans.8 – d. Abhinash lives on the floor numbered six

Ans.9 – e. Suresh likes BLACK.

Ans.10 – d. The one who likes Brown lives on 5th​​ floor.
