  • Assam​​ has emerged as the​​ top​​ state​​ in terms of best practices followed in​​ budget​​ formulation, followed by Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, says a survey by Transparency International.

  • HDFC has received approval from Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai) to acquire 51.2% stake in Apollo Munich Health Insurance – a joint venture between Apollo Hospitals and German reinsurer Munich Re Group.

  • PayU has decided to acquire a controlling stake in digital credit platform PaySense, including its assets, in a deal valued at $185 million.

  • Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated the government plans to launch an e-commerce platform with an eye on garnering revenues of around​​ 10-lakh crore over two-three years. ​​​​ The Bharatcraft portal, which will be on the lines of Alibaba and Amazon.

  • The State Bank of India (SBI) has become the lead financier for the first two phases of the Navi Mumbai Airport project. It will contribute around Rs 4,500 crore of the total funding required for the airport project, which stands at Rs 16,000-crore. GVK group will spend Rs 8500 Cr on Navi Mumbai airport phase-I.

  • Delhi High Court favours jail terms for using chemicals to ripen fruits.

  • GST revenues during the December 2019 from domestic transactions has shown an impressive growth of 16% over revenue during December 2018. Total revenue earned by after regular settlement in December 2019 is​​ 41,776​​ crore for CGST;​​ ​​ 42,158​​ crore for SGST.

  • The Reserve Bank of India has enabled local banks to offer round-the-clock trading in the Indian rupee, as a step towards reducing the rising influence of offshore trading in the currency markets.

  • According to Government data on national income, the country’s per-capita monthly income is estimated to have risen by 6.8 per cent to Rs 11,254 during 2019-20. In 2018-19, the monthly per-capita income had stood at Rs 10,534.

  • Royal Navy of Oman ships arrive in Goa for naval exercise 'Naseem-AlBahr’

  • DRDO's Naval variant of Light Combat Aircraft makes its first successful landing.
