  • India emerged as the world's fifth largest economy by overtaking the UK and France in 2019.

  • Delhi topped the list of most polluted capital cities in the world in 2019, which also revealed that 21 of the world's 30 most polluted cities are in India.

  • Natural disasters cost world $232 billion in 2019: Report

  • Virat Kohli retained the top spot in the celebrity brand valuation rankings released by Duff & Phelps, for the third year in a row. His brand value grew by nearly 39 per cent to $237.5 million in 2019.

  • Bengaluru takes the top spot this year with city drivers expecting to spend an average of 71% extra travel time stuck in traffic.

  • The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has ranked 16th among the top 100 universities of emerging economies.


  • Indian Captain Virat Kohli continued to top the ICC Test batsmen's ranking but his deputy Ajinkya Rahane slipped a place to the ninth spot.

  • Indian athletes finished with three medals in different categories in the World SnowShoe Championship at Myoko, Japan .

  • Ayan Bin Shahnaz bagged silver, while Zain Ali and Muzamil Hussain Mir, all are from Kashmir, bagged bronze medals in their respective categories.

  • Sunil Kumar wins gold in 87-kg Greco Roman category in Asian Wrestling Championships.

  • India will host the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup. The Women's Committee of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced this in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

  • PM Narendra Modi declared open the first-ever Khelo India University Games at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium Cuttack in Odisha.

  • India will host the Commonwealth Shooting and Archery Championships in January 2022. The medals from the two events will be counted for ranking of competing nations at the Birmingham Games.


  • The MoUs signed between two countries include one between Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and UiT, The Arctic University of Norway for cooperation in fields such as bio-photonics, health and diagnostic tools, nanotechnology, water management and renewable energy.

  • Kerala to host global meet on climate change, ocean health.

  • In Madhya Pradesh, a National Water Conference is going to be held in the capital Bhopal to solve water crisis and make the state a water-rich state.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 'Kashi Ek Roop Anek'- a cultural, arts and handicrafts exhibition, at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Hastakala Sankul in Varanasi.

  • The World Health Organization(WHO) says the official name for the disease caused by the new​​ corona virus​​ is Covid-2019.

  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, inaugurated the 11th edition of DefExpo in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
